Lost keys and lock changes
Losing keys or entry tags can be expensive: the landlord may need to change the lock or re-program the building’s entry system at your cost.
What to do
Tell the landlord straight away
They can block a lost tag so no one else can use it.
Locked out now?
Call the landlord’s emergency or on-call number (jour) shown in the stairwell or on their website. Out-of-hours callouts often cost extra.
Ask what it costs before agreeing
Charges depend on the landlord and lock system: a new tag, new keys, or a full lock change. Your home insurance may cover some of it.
