AM: moped class I licence
The AM licence lets you ride an EU moped (class I). It needs a compulsory AM course and a theory test — there is no driving test.

- The compulsory **AM training** with an approved provider (usually a driving school). It must be valid when you take the theory test, and is valid for five years.
What it lets you drive
A class I moped (EU moped), plus class II mopeds, tractor type a (max 40 km/h) and class II construction equipment.

Documents and booking
Book and pay in Trafikverket’s booking service. Your photo is taken at the test centre before your first test — arrive 30 minutes early. Theory questions can be read aloud only in Swedish; extra time, oral tests or an interpreter can be applied for (support). Driving tests are held in Swedish.

Validity, failing and retakes
After passing the theory test you may ride straight away, as long as you carry valid ID. The card is ready in about five working days; collect it at the post office with ID. Since 1 June 2024 AM licences have a one-year probation; if revoked, you redo the training and theory test.
