Bottle and can deposits (pant)
Most drink cans and plastic bottles carry a deposit. Return them to the machine in any supermarket and get the money back.
At a glance
- Cans and small plastic bottles
- SEK 2
- Large plastic bottles
- SEK 3
How it works
Look for the deposit symbol on cans and plastic bottles. You pay the deposit when you buy the drink and get it back when you put the empty, uncrushed package into the deposit machine (pantautomat) in a supermarket. The machine gives a receipt to use at the checkout or to donate.
The deposit was raised in 2025 to SEK 2 for cans and small plastic bottles and SEK 3 for large plastic bottles. Packages with the older, lower deposit can still be returned for some time after 31 December 2026.
